College Transfer Scholarships

Scholarships for transfer students are available at most four year colleges. Some colleges have developed special transfer scholarships for community college students who have excelled academically. There are a few national scholarship programs for transfer students but most are limited to outstanding students. North Carolina offers some scholarships for North Carolina students at CFNC.org. Transfer students are encouraged to use a national scholarship search engine online like www.fastweb.com.

The following links will provide you with most of the scholarship resources for students transferring to a four-year college. Please keep in mind that every college has specific scholarships for different majors, some even have grant funding for certain programs. If the college you want to transfer to is not listed below do not assume they do not offer scholarships, go to their website, or call them directly, as every college offers some merit and need-based scholarships. Keep in mind the best source of money for college is federal financial aid available at FAFSA. The next best source is the four-year college! 

NC College Transfer Scholarships

The North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) offers a wide range of scholarships to support students across the state in pursuing higher education. These scholarships are established by donors and are tailored to various criteria, including academic interests, geographic location, and personal backgrounds.

25 Super Helpful Scholarships - Going off to college can be an exciting and life-changing experience, but choosing the right school can be overwhelming! With such a complicated and large decision to make, it’s no surprise that many students later transfer to another school.

The Golden LEAF Scholarship awards up to 215 grants, each valued at about $12,000 ($3,000 per year for up to four years) for the 2015-16 academic year.  These scholarships are made possible through a grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation.

The Aggie Commitment Trailblazer Scholars (ACTS) Program is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) pathways program to broaden participation in STEM. Students underrepresented in STEM and pursuing the Associate in Science or Associate of Engineering degrees with the intent to enroll at N.C. A&T to major STEM) are eligible to apply. N.C. community college students may apply and commit to the ACTS program in their first year of community college. Early commitment to ACTS will provide a seamless transition from community college to N.C. A&T and several other benefits.

Wingate University Gateway Scholarship: Students who earn an associate degree from RichmondCC with a minimum 2.5 GPA and complete the FAFSA may qualify for the Wingate Gateway Scholarship. It provides a seamless transition to Wingate, and students will pay no more than $2,500 per year in tuition.

 

The Next Step Scholarship:  Crumley Roberts firmly believes in continued learning as a key to success. The Next Step Scholarship is awarded to North Carolina community college students who will be transferring to an accredited four-year college or university in the coming fall. To date, Crumley Roberts has provided over $215,000 in scholarships and technology for North Carolina students.

Grants & Scholarships: After you've submitted your FAFSA, start looking into grants and scholarships. Sometimes referred to as 'gift-aid', grants and scholarships are types of financial aid that you typically do not have to repay. They are provided by the federal government, state government, colleges, and private organizations.

National Transfer Scholarship Programs

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is a highly selective scholarship for the nation's top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor's degrees at 4-year colleges or universities.  The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year, making it the largest private scholarship for community college transfer students in the country.

Phi Theta Kappa National Scholarships: COA PTK inductees have a plethora of scholarship opportunities available to them at the national PTK web site.
